NC-BMBT Meeting Notes-Affecting Exams and Lincensing

The December 8, 2011 BMBT meeting was held on the 13th floor of the Wells Fargo Bank Building (formerly Wachovia Building) in beautiful downtown Raleighwood.
The Jurisprudence Learning Exercise/Exam was approved for implementation. This means that all applicants will have to take the exam as part of their initial application. The “open-book” exam must be passed with a 100% before the applicant may be issued a license.
There were numerous students in attendance (“standing…or sitting on the floor….room only”) from Caldwell CC, Forsyth CC, Pitt CC, Wake CC, and Miller Motte.

The Practice Act is not scheduled to be re-opened during the 2012-2013 legislative years.
There was discussion if the BMBT has statutory authority to adopt rules and implement fees to license establishments employing LMBTs.
The Jurisprudence Learning Exercise/Exam was approved for implementation. This means that all applicants will have to take the exam as part of their initial application. The exam is 30 questions from a pool of 59 random questions and taken from the Practice Act and Rules and Regulations. The “open-book” exam must be passed with a 100% before the applicant may be issued a license.
FSMTB (state licensing exam board) has 41 member boards and has stated a 68 pass rate – 32% failure rate. For those that are taking the MBLEx, there is aa new Candidate Handbook dated October, 2011.
The next BMBT meeting is February 9, 2012. The April meeting has been changed to April 5, 2012.

A disciplinary hearing was heard at 1:00pm for Igor Fooks and the decision of the board will be available on the BMBT website.
